This rounds off a successful 2012 for the #Kenya365 instagram project which was conceived with the intention of capturing everyday life in Kenya. Interest and participation in the project hasn't waned as people continue to send in stories which capture different facets of life in Kenya - from quirky street signs to idyllic scenes of everyday life.  Projects like this (user generated) yields an unfiltered view of events and places - which is very much needed in Africa, in general. In some sense, it may be the best form of visual documentation about everyday life in Kenya, quality of photos aside - not driven by the need to explore any one particular storyline. It just shows life as it happens - Good stuff.

South African Township Barbershops & Salons

From the rural communities of Dzanini, close the border of Zimbabwe, through to neighborhoods of Khayelitsha in Africa's southern most city, the informal barbershop and hair salon play an important part in township life. These businesses are a place where getting your hair cut or styled is sometimes an afterthought. - Simon Weller. View This Gallery
