Introduction

We stayed at the Paradise View resort in Mozambique, approximately 35km from Xai Xai. We were looking for prawns, and after chatting to the locals, we were told that the best prawns are to be found at the fresh produce market in Xai Xai.

We had to get some prawns, as we could not return home without having the famous prawns. We knew the road to Xai Xai was terrible, but we decided to brave it anyway.

An hour's drive to Xai Xai, and we found the market. At first we were sceptical about the cleaniness of the market, but we saw it though, and in the end we enjoyed our prawns.

South African Township Barbershops & Salons

From the rural communities of Dzanini, close the border of Zimbabwe, through to neighborhoods of Khayelitsha in Africa's southern most city, the informal barbershop and hair salon play an important part in township life. These businesses are a place where getting your hair cut or styled is sometimes an afterthought. - Simon Weller. View This Gallery
