Biography

Chloé Meunier is a photographer who comes from the French countryside close to the Belgian border. She studied photography in Brussels and is currently living in London where she works in the events industries in both London and Paris. Her main area of expertise is documentaries. "I am passionate and fascinated by people; their way of life, their stories, their difficulties, their historic relationships, as well as their society and its perpetual changes," Chloé says. "Showing their everyday life is a way for me to try and create an understanding and a connection between them and the people who will see their stories. I also apply this concept to other areas of my photography." http://www.productionparadise.com/member/paris/chlo-meunier.html

My work consists of meeting persons who have semi-marginalized lifestyles.
They found alternative methods to live in a world which does not worry so much about them. The fact that they decide to organized themselves, without following completely the State, then it becomes an organization within the organization. This is a shape of resistance. Sometimes ignored, sometimes badly understood, I tend to bring it to light through its portrait. Then is my approach an alternative also, in what is generally communicated. I try to present a reading, in order to give an another picture of what already possesses an image congealed in the time, and in the mental representations. I leave each group to describe it through its individuals, in the continuity of the valuation of the individual expression, put in perspective by Franz Fanon, when he rebelled against the representation given by the African people: ” what we look, it is to put them in the obligation of answering the idea that we have about them. ” It is what I tend to by-pass, by bringing to the images the testimonies of the concerned persons.
